WASHINGTON COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DOWN TO 4.7%

  

Washington County dropped .8% in April unemployment. The month of April had a 4.7% unemployment rate for April, its lowest rate since May 2015 at 4.1% according to the Texas Workforce Commission. The county’s labor force was 15,328 for April with just 723 out of work. The March labor force was at 15,141 with 653 unemployed.

According to TWC chairman, Andres Alcantar, “Texas employers added 189,000 jobs over the past year, creating opportunities for workers in a range of industries”.

Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased in April by .1% to 4.4% though it is still below the national average of 5%.
