WEEKEND PROVES BUSY FOR DRUG ARREST

  

On Saturday, around 10:59pm, Officer Hunter Andras conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of K&M

As Andras spoke with the driver, he could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the car.

The owner of the car, who was in the front passenger seat, gave consent to search the vehicle.

During the search, an open bottle of alcohol was located, as was the marijuana.

One of the passengers in the car, twenty-three year old Anisha Renee Hemphill, of Somerville claimed ownership of both the alcohol and the marijuana, and was arrested.

Hemphill was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 2 oz.

Also on Saturday, Officer Hunter Andras conducted a traffic stop around 5:34 pm in the 2100 block of US Highway 290 W.

The driver, twenty-year old Eron Salazar, of Houston provided a license with an address out of Houston, But Dispatch had a Mission, Texas address.

The vehicle was also registered as black in color, but it was now white.

The driver refused to let Andras search the vehicle, so Officer Mark Pierce and his K-9 partner Sammy were called to the scene.

Sammy performed a “free air” search, and alerted the officers to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

Officer Andras located the marijuana hidden in the console of the car.

Salazar was charged with Possession of marijuana under 2 oz, and possession of a fictitious altered driver license.

 

On Friday around 11pm, Officer Sierra Newell observed a vehicle parked at Hohlt Park after park hours, and

as she drove up, the driver tossed something underneath the car.

After talking with the driver, twenty-six year old Travis Tyrone Harris, of Somerville, refused to allow Newell to search the car, she reached underneath and picked up the bag which contained synthetic cannabinoids.

Harris was arrested and charged with Possession of Synthetic Cannabinoids

 

And also on Friday, Officer Heather Sowders conducted a traffic stop in the 500 Block of US 290 W.

When Officer Sowders approached the vehicle and the driver rolled down his window, she could smell the strong odor of marijuana emitting from the car.

The driver said they had smoked marijuana earlier, but there was nothing in the car at that time.

CPL. Lance Weiss arrived and searched the passenger and located marijuana in his left sock.

Several baggies with what appeared to be marijuana residue were located, as well as drug paraphernalia and $2,900 in cash.

The driver, nineteen-year old Corey Lornaz Calhoun, of Manor, was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and the passenger, nineteen-year old Isaiah Arkeith Moreland, of Austin, was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
