Erich Weiss of the Altoona Curve in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, had three hits and drove in a career-high seven runs in the Curve’s 11-5 win over New Hampshire, Sunday.

Weiss started things off with a two-run home in the first inning.  He followed that up with a three-run double in the second.

After he was hit by a pitch in the third inning, Weiss ripped an rbi-triple in the fifth.  A sacrifice fly in the seventh inning closed the book on Weise’s days.

Weiss grounded out in his final at bat, leaving him a single shy of hitting for the cycle.

It was Weiss’ 11th three-hit game of the season at Altoona.

Weiss told MiLB.com, "It was just one of those days where you're just locked in and you're not really thinking about any pitches, you're just hitting.  I've never done that before, never got that many RBIs in a game. So it was pretty awesome, a good feeling."

The 24-year old second baseman is hitting .279 this season, with 48 runs scored and 59 runs batted in.  Weiss has 21 doubles, 9 triples, 6 home runs, and a.350 on base percentage.

Weiss was an All-State infielder with the 2010 Brenham Cubs’ State Championship team and also played three seasons with the Texas Longhorns. In 2011 he was named Big-12 Freshman of the Year and was named a freshman All-American.

Erich is the son of Gary and Phyllis Weiss of Brenham.
