Former Brenham Cub and current Houston Cougar pitcher Chase Wellbrock has secured his spot in the Cougar’s baseball record book.

Saturday night Wellbrock picked up his fourth save of the season in the Cougars’ 4-3 win over UCLA in Los Angeles.

It was Wellbrock’s 16th career save, tying the program’s career saves record, held by Ryan Wagner (2002-03).

In five appearances this season, Wellbrock has a 0.00 earned run average with 11 strikeouts and no walks in 9.1 innings pitched.

Wellbrock helped pitch the 2010 Brenham Cubs to the 4A State Championship.  He was the UIL State Tournament Most Valuable Player and the 4A Pitcher of the Year in Texas and was a Max Preps All-American.
