WIDENING WORK ON FM 60 CONTINUES, PARTS ARE NEARING COMPLETION

  

A TXDOT project to complete the loop around Snook for the FM 60 widening project is on schedule and is expected to be completed by spring.

The 10.5 million dollar project is being conducted by Big Creek Construction, LTD of Hewitt, and runs 1.2 miles west of FM 2039 to Old River, and involves widening the road from two to four lanes.

The project began in April of last year, and is expected to be finished in 2016, according to TxDot spokesman Bob Colwell.

 Numerous fatalities and serious accidents have occurred on these road and Burleson County officials have advocated the widening.

TXDOT hopes to widen the roadway all the way from FM 50 to State Highway 36 as a safety concern.

TXDOT still needs to determine what the next section of the widening project will be and when it will be funded.
