WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER THREE-COUNTY CHASE

A Houston woman is in custody after leading officers on a high-speed chase through three counties, Wednesday.

Authorities say they’re not sure why the woman didn’t stop when a DPS trooper tried to pull her over for speeding at around 10 a.m. Wednesday just south of Caldwell.

According to DPS Corporal Jimmy Morgan, the trooper clocked the woman’s pickup at more than 100 miles-per-hour on Highway 36, giving chase after she refused to stop.

The pursuit continued into Milam County and then into Williamson County.

The half-hour chase eventually ended in Williamson County, after a deputy deployed a spike strip.

According to Morgan, the driver her passenger surrendered without incident.

No one was injured.

The woman’s identity has not been released.
