Beginning next week, construction work will begin on a portion of Westwood Lane in Brenham.
The portion of the roadway runs from HWY 290 to the Dairy Queen back driveway. Reconstruction will begin Monday and last approximately 7-10 days.
According to Public Works Director Dane Rau, this portion of the roadway is currently asphalt and is breaking up significantly. Contractors will be on-site to dig up the existing roadway and pour concrete in this section.
In order to expedite the process and allow for a safe work zone this portion of the roadway will be closed and not accessible to traffic. All residential traffic will need to utilize Sunset Rd.
This reconstruction process will remove the existing asphalt, grading the sub-base and adding concrete. After concrete is added it will have to cure for a period of 3-5 days.
