YEGUA CREEK CLEANUP REMOVES MORE THAN 2000 GALLONS OF TRASH FROM SHORELINE

  

lake2Many volunteers came to the cleanup event along the Yegua Creek discharge channel on April 9th making it a huge success.  Event participants included 60 event volunteers from Blinn College, Bluebonnet Electric, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, City of Somerville/Somerville Police Department, and 5 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Volunteers. The event resulted in the removal of 2,727 gallons of trash from the Yegua Creek Shoreline.

A contest was also held for the most fishing line collected with prizes donated for top fishing line collected in adult and child categories. The contest resulted in the removal of an impressive 61 pounds of discarded fishing line from the shoreline.
