YOUNG AAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK–AGAIN

Caroline Young 110513Former Brenham Cubette volleyball star Caroline Young was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for a conference-best fourth time this season after leading the SMU Mustangs to wins at Central Florida and Southern Florida, clinching a second-place finish in the league.

The junior had 19 kills in a 3-1 win at UCF, the most by a SMU player in a conference match this season. She also went over the 1,000-kill plateau for her career against the Knights. Young finished the week with 4.57 kills per set and a .410 hitting percentage, recording 32 of SMU's 104 kills on the weekend.

Young is fourth in the league overall, averaging 3.41 kills per set, and is eighth overall with a .287 attack percentage. She is hitting .315 in American matches, and is also second in the league with 34 aces. The Mustangs, 21-9 overall and 13-4 in American contest, conclude the regular season at Houston Wednesday at 5 p.m.
