YOUNG NAMED “PLAYER OF THE WEEK” IN AAC

Former Brenham Cubette and current SMU standout, Caroline Young was named this week's American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

The Brenham native helped lead the Mustangs to a 3-0 weekend, which included a come-from-behind victory over No. 24 Oklahoma in the final match of the SMU Invite.

Young registered 23 kills in the match to help SMU mount the comeback. For the weekend, Young hit .303 with 3.83 kills per set, and was named the Invite’s Most Valuable Player.

Young was named first-team all-conference in 2013 and was named player of the week a league-high four times

Young was All-State her junior and senior years at Brenham, and helped lead the Cubettes to the State Finals in both 2009 and 2010.
