108 BLINN ATHLETES NAMED TO ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S HONOR ROLL

Fifteen student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average

The Blinn College District has named 108 students to its Spring 2019 Don Wilhelm Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

To be eligible, student athletes must post a 3.0 or better grade point average (GPA) and pass a minimum of 12 credit hours of college level courses. Out of 306 athletes, 31 percent made the honor roll.

Fifteen student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA: football player Robert Jackson (Temple); volleyball players Rachel Barnett (Lewisville), Samantha Boatman (Houston) and Roxanne Morris (Goliad); softball players Emelyn Coussou (Beaumont), Kristin Kaiser (College Station), and Kelsey Lowke (Austin); cheerleaders Ashlyn Beard (Port Lavaca), Kylann Dillard (Houston), Gabriela Pollard (Midlothian), and Bailey Rubal (Missouri City); dance team member Laura Amaro (Sachse); women’s soccer player Kajol Prasad (Murphy); men’s soccer player Tony Martinez (Magnolia); and baseball player Preston Hoffart (Magnolia). The softball team led all Blinn athletic programs with a 3.30 GPA, the baseball team followed with a 3.23 GPA, and the volleyball team posted a 3.21 GPA.

Baseball had the most honor roll students with 29, followed by 18 members of the cheerleading team.

“It is impressive to see our student-athletes achieve success like this in the classroom,” said Scott Schumacher, athletic director. “The Blinn College coaches and athletic staff congratulate each one of these students on their academic accomplishments.”

The honor roll is named in honor of former Blinn athletic director Don Wilhelm, an NJCAA Hall of Famer who served the College for 10 years.
