Deja Adrian and Briauna Johnson combine for 31 points

TYLER, Texas — The No. 20 Blinn College women’s basketball team rallied to outscore No. 11 Tyler Junior College by seven points in the final quarter, but the Lady Apaches were able to score the final points needed for an 82-75 win Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Buccaneers now hold a 7-4 overall record and 3-2 conference record.

“We put ourselves in a bind the first three quarters with turnovers and defensive lapses,” head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “We cut the Tyler lead to 75-73 with a minute to go, but Tyler made the plays down the stretch. I am very proud of this team’s competitiveness to be able to come back from 19 points down.”

Deja Adrian scored 16 points to tie her season-high, Briauna Johnson scored a season-high 15 points with five 3-pointers, Hailey Atwood and Telisha Brown each put up 10, and Jessica Soders tallied eight.

Tyler opened the game with a 23-18 advantage and continued to hold a 45-32 lead at halftime. The Lady Apaches held a 14-point lead (63-49) heading into the final quarter. In the fourth, the Buccaneers fought back to outscore the Lady Apaches 26-19 to cut a 19-point deficit down to two with 1:03 showing on the clock. However, Tyler was able to end the game on a 5-0 run for the win.
