Practices have begun for the 2019 UIL Volleyball season.

The Brenham Cubettes and Burton Lady Panthers have begun getting ready for the upcoming season.

Last year, the Cubettes returned to the playoffs after a two-year absence, going 26-16 and 9-5 in district, before falling to powerhouse Kingwood Park in the Bi-District playoff.

The Cubettes return 10 members from last year’s team, including three starters and several others who saw significant playing time.

The Lady Panthers return 12 players from their 2018 team that went 36-11 and took the district title at 14-0.  They advanced to the Region Final before falling to Thorndale.

The Cubettes open their season next Tuesday (8/6), when they host Brazos at 7:00 at the Brenham Gymnasium.  They will scrimmage Monday morning at Cy Falls.

The Lady Panthers open their season at home as well, taking on Schulenburg at 6:00 at the Burton Gym.  They will scrimmage at Caldwell, Saturday morning.

Cubette head Coach Debbie Yeager and Cubette players, and Coach Katie Kieke and Lady Panthers will be guests on Monday night’s Brenham Sports Line on KWHI, beginning at 5:30.
