MOND ADVOCATES ‘CHANGE’ AT TEXAS A&M

Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond continues to push for the removal of a statue of Lawrence Sullivan Ross.

Mond stepped up his campaign Tuesday, issuing a statement: "The values of Texas A&M University do not align with RACISM, VIOLENCE, SLAVERY & SEGREGATION, but Jimbo Fisher's most prominent saying will always stick with me: "Your ACTIONS speak so loud I can't hear what you're saying," Mond wrote. "The Lawrence Sullivan Ross Statue NEEDS to be removed. Texas A&M University, I NEED to see ACTION."

There were protests on both sides this past weekend, with about 24,000 people signing a petition for the statue's removal, and about 25,000 signing one to keep it.

Mond, a senior from San Antonio, says that the arguments of Sullivan's contributions to A&M should not outweigh his past.

Numerous current players and former players, including Johnny Manziel, tweeted support for Mond.

  1. Tell Mond, statue stays. Now, what’s he gonna do! Hopefully he leaves campus and fb team.

    1. Yes STATUE stays along w/many others on campuses. Yes TAMU can replace him as a Quarterback. Supporters of Aggie Football wont put up w/this.There’s a respectable young athlete that I’m sure was passed over & look what we ended up with. A disgrace to TAMU. Mond needs to remind himself & his followers when its time to enter the WORKING MANS world Alumni will never consider them for a job. Alumni are quite loyal to graduates in good standing. They don’t hire his kind ! But oh I suppose he & his think jobs will knocking at his door….NO WAY… He should know with social media & personal information available within SECONDS & it stays on personal records forever. Sadly he & others receive Scholarships & free perks…..and where does he think the money to buy the perks comes from….yes from the Alumni & benefactors that support the school. He should look at the impressive list of donors & Alumni that paid for the graduation broadcast this last Saturday at WestPoint….they wanted parents, grandparents, friends & families to witness the graduation because no attendance was allowed…without those generous $$$$$$$ families would have missed a milestone in their son/daughter life. Now that’s where Alumni give w/out being asked. & they give again & again. When will this society of people like Mond take responsibility & live like a citizen that respects History & his fellow man. The God Lord sees this destruction of businesses & a day of reckon will come to these evil people. I’m certain if Jackie Sherrill ( impressive Winning footbal legend from TAMU days gone by & made it to 2 Cotton Bowl appearances )has read what’s happening he’s surely saying ” never on my watch would this have even made it past my door”…you can bet your boots it would have ended immediately & no disgrace to Athletics or TAMU. Strength & backbone missing in the world today to fight for the right thing. How sad. I’m ashamed whats happening because our family has many UT & TAMU grads. The good Lord sees the destruction here & the day of reckon will come soon to the evil, hateful ones.

  2. Absolutely awesome. It is about time. I love it! Kellen is an astute young man. I hope that Mond and those who support this effort do not get sidetracked with a sell out compromise.

  4. I am really starting to resent the folks pushing all this nonsense. Those who are fueling this “movement” via words, actions, or finances are only trying to further divide us and break our society down. The goal is more equality. I assure you that intimidation, violence, and destruction, otherwise known as terrorism, will ultimately lead to more racism.

  5. It sickens me yo see that we have a generation of so-called young adults that assume that they are smart enough to dictate to older experienced red blooded through and through Americans that American History should be rewritten to appease their egocentric mentality at any cost of the historical truth and simple respect of others that are living or dead. I hope the center and guards show us some true American patriotism.

  6. Many conversations I have seen on social media over the last weeks revolved around George Floyd. People have questioned why BLM should be using a career criminal as a martyr for their cause. They answer always seems to come back one of two ways. They say he was just the last straw or they counter with -his criminal life was IN THE PAST. My question is if we are to forget George Floyd’s violent criminal past and view him as a martyr for a great cause, why can’t we look beyond Sullivan’s early history and just look to the good he did in the context of his time in history?
