‘CLEAR THE SHELTERS’ UNDERWAY AT BRENHAM PET ADOPTION CENTER
Brenham Animal Services is once again taking part in a nationwide effort to find new homes for pets in need.
The annual “Clear the Shelters” pet adoption campaign, hosted in partnership with NBC and Telemundo stations, is underway through Sunday, September 19th at the Brenham Pet Adoption Center. The shelter will offer adoption specials throughout the month-long event, like free adoptions this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Brenham Animal Services Manager Allison Harper says the adoption center currently has approximately 83 animals, and that “Clear the Shelters” will introduce many of those animals to new families.
The campaign will culminate with an adoption event at the shelter on Saturday, September 18th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring waived adoption fees, vendors and prizes.
All of the adoption center’s available pets can be seen online at www.petfinder.com. Harper suggests anyone who is interested in a specific animal should visit the shelter as soon as possible.
We adopted a sweetie on a clear the shelter day with that being said, I am lucky to own my own home because that seems to be a problem. So many rental properties do not allow pets and so many people have to surrender their pets. I know that pets can cause damage to homes and it can get expensive, but there has to be a happy medium. The number of surrendered dogs is sad.
We all need to come up with Better ideas to keep the shelter numbers low.
No fee adoptions is not a good idea. But then again I would not expect any different from the management at this place.
No fee adoptions as an event significantly increases adoption rates and does not result in a similar increase in bad outcomes. Don’t jump all over an idea unless you can propose a better one.
Do you have a better idea? Seriously, if you are not satisfied by this effort to find homes for adoptable animals, speak up with something better.
