BRENHAM ISD NOW TAKING GIFTED AND TALENTED NOMINATIONS

Brenham ISD is now accepting nominations for the Gifted and Talented (GT) education program from newly enrolled students.

Students new to BISD in grades 1-12 may participate in the GT nomination, assessment, screening and identification process.  The school district screens students for the GT program using a multi-criteria approach to selection with three phases of placement.  GT identification is based upon data collected from achievement tests, ability tests, parent and teacher observation surveys, and student products from Kingore Planned Experiences.

Families who have students newly enrolled in BISD can pick up parent checklists and requests for screening forms from the Administration Office at 711 East Mansfield Street.  The forms can also be found at www.brenhamisd.net.  Request forms and parent checklists should be returned to the administration office by noon on Tuesday, September 7th.  Forms received after the deadline will be retained until the spring 2022 testing time.  Testing will occur on campus from September 8-22, with GT Placement Committee meetings in mid-September.

Parents will be notified of the results by letter no later than the week of September 20th for the 2021-22 school year.  If a child is accepted into the program, families will need to complete the parent permission form for their child to receive services in the GT program.  The first day of the GT program will be September 27th.

This beginning of the school year screening is only available for newly enrolled BISD students.  All other students will have the opportunity to submit referrals for GT screening during the month of December as part of the annual screening process.
