‘MEET THE CUBS’ MARKS BEGINNING OF FALL SPORTS SEASON

Despite the threat of bad weather, the Brenham community still came out in full force Wednesday night to support the Cubs and Cubettes as they kick off the new season.

The annual “Meet the Cubs” rally at Cub Stadium was delayed by half an hour after reports of lightning.  However, the threat subsided long enough for the event to go off without a hitch.

Crowds cheered as Brenham’s fall athletes took the field to be introduced alongside the Brenham Cub Band, the Brenham Belles Dance Team, and the junior high and high school cheerleaders.

The Brenham Cub football team will travel to Magnolia West for its season opener tomorrow (Friday) night.  Kickoff is at 7 p.m., with 6:30 p.m. pregame on KWHI AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.

The "Meet the Cubs" rally was delayed for half an hour following reports of lightning. A rainbow was spotted prior to the event.
