TWO GRIMES CO. DEPUTIES FLOWN TO HOSPITAL AFTER CRASH FOLLOWING PURSUIT

Two Grimes County Sheriff’s deputies were hospitalized after crashing while pursuing a suspect early this (Thursday) morning.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, a two-man unit attempted to make a traffic stop on a gray Dodge pickup around 1:15 a.m.  The driver of the truck reportedly failed to yield, leading to a short pursuit on West Johnson Avenue in Anderson.

The pursuit ended when both the deputies and the suspect crashed in a curve in the road.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Cole Miller Reynolds, fled the scene on foot but was captured shortly after 6 a.m. on County Road 185.  He was charged with Evading Arrest.

The sheriff’s office said the two deputies suffered serious injuries, with one having to be extricated from their patrol vehicle by fire department personnel.  They were both airlifted to CHI St. Joseph’s Regional Emergency Room, where they remain in stable but serious condition.
