The boutique resale shop supporting the Burton Bridge Ministry is set to open its doors on Thursday at 10 a.m. at 307 North Brazos Street, the former site of Bethany Christian Church.

The move comes after the ministry raised money from donors and a loan from Carmine State Bank to purchase the church building to use as its new thrift store.

The ministry plans to move its office and food pantry to the shop’s former location at 601 North Main Street.

Prior to the reopening, Pastor Bob Hofmann of Bethany Christian Church, along with leaders from the ministry’s partner churches, will bless and dedicate the new space.  The Washington County Chamber of Commerce will broadcast the event live on Facebook, culminating with a ribbon cutting.

After the reopening, The Corner Shoppe will be open Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In addition to operating The Corner Shoppe, the Burton Bridge Ministry provides meals to homebound seniors, distributes food in partnership with the Brazos Valley Food Bank and sponsors a Christian youth camp each summer.  It was founded in 2010 by 13 area churches and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
