GRAND PRAIRIE MAN ARRESTED FOR DWI, RECKLESS DRIVING FOLLOWING ACCIDENT

A Dallas-area man was arrested Sunday night after a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 290 in Brenham.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., Brenham police officers and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash with entrapment in the 1800 block of Highway 290 West, near Select Furnishings.  No one was entrapped when units arrived.

Officials with Washington County EMS did not have word on any injuries, but they did say everyone was stable at the scene.

After investigation, 35-year-old Alejandro Landaverde Licea of Grand Prairie, the driver of one of the vehicles involved, was taken into custody by Brenham police for Reckless Driving and Driving While Intoxicated.

The highway was briefly closed to clean up debris in the eastbound and westbound lanes.

Update @ 1:30 p.m. 1/26: A family involved in the accident told KWHI that their dog, Maverick, died after suffering severe injuries in the crash.  The family is asking for help with hospital and cremation expenses, and has set up a GoFundMe page for anyone who would like to donate.
