Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley will play for three weekends on the Unity Theatre Main Stage, from tomorrow to October 9th.
The story of Crimes of the Heart features the three Magrath sisters, who have gathered to await news of their grandfather as he lives out his final hours in the local hospital. Lenny, the oldest, is unmarried at 30 and facing diminishing prospects; Meg, the middle sister, outgrew small-town Hazelhurst and has returned after a failed singing career on the West Coast; while Babe, the youngest, is currently out on bail after having recently shot her husband.
The play was written in 1979 and won a Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award. In 1986, it was adapted into a film starring Diane Keaton, Jessica Lange and Sissy Spacek.
Tomorrow night’s preview performance will allow guests to visit with the cast and crew in a talk-back after the show. Director Jimmy Phillips will hold a director’s chat prior to the performance on Saturday, October 1st.
Shows are 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
Regular tickets are $28, while tickets to the preview performance are $21. Student tickets, along with any seats not sold 15 minutes before showtime, are $15.
Tickets are available by going online to www.unitybrenham.org or calling the box office at 979-830-8358.
