ALL WASHINGTON CO. SALES TAX REBATES UP IN DECEMBER

  

Washington County entities ended the year on a high note with sales and tax distributions, as they showed increases for the fifth month in a row. 

Washington County’s December rebate was $375,535, up 24.32 percent from last December’s amount of $302,054.  For 2022, the county’s rebates totaled $4,324,192, an increase of 20.91 percent from the $3,576,154 received in 2021.

For Brenham, the December rebate came out to $757,472, 18.98 percent more than last December’s $636,607.  The city’s receipts in 2022 summed up to $9,149,068, 15.36 percent up from 2021’s total of $7,930,623.

Burton received $9,531 in December, an increase of 12.71 percent from the $8,456 taken in during December 2021.  Throughout the year, the city brought in $101,786, up 12 percent from $90,872 in total rebates in 2021.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported that the state paid out $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations in December, up 12.4 percent from last December and up 15.2 percent in total for 2022.
