ANDERSON WOMAN ARRESTED FOR KILLING LIVESTOCK
An investigation by the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a Grimes County woman for shooting and killing livestock.
45-year-old Shelley McCoy of Anderson was arrested on a third degree felony charge of Criminal Mischief with a Firearm/Weapon resulting in the Death of Livestock.
The arrest comes after Special Ranger Brent Mast and the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene to discover numerous cattle had been shot and killed since September 2022.
Mast along with Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant John Jones and Investigator Nic Malmstrom interviewed McCoy, the rancher’s neighbor.
According to a press release from the Association, after the interview, they began looking more closely at McCoy, and considered her a person of interest.
After obtaining an arrest warrant, McCoy was taken into custody by the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office.
The Cattle Raisers Association said that investigation into the case is ongoing, and that more felony charges are expected.
Nancy, I have the same question. Maybe the cattle were going on her property and she thought that was the way to stop them – just shoot them. Maybe she and the cattle rancher were disagreeing about something and that was her way of getting even. Very interesting. I would like to hear/see a follow up on this story.
So isn’t that also related to castle rustling ? And did she try to take the meat from the carcasses ? Thanks for the report very interesting.

What possible reason for shooting cattle?
Oh I’m sure it was retaliation against her neighbor for some reason or another!!
