43RD ANNUAL BLUE BELL FUN RUN GETS UNDERWAY SATURDAY

Today (Saturday) marks the start of the 43rd Annual Blue Bell Fun Run.

Runners from around the region will wind their way through Washington County’s scenic countryside and rolling fields of bluebonnets this morning, starting at 7:30 a.m. at Brenham High School.

The fun run also features a virtual element, allowing runners unable to take part in the in-person event to log their own times between today and Sunday, April 18th.

Runners in the half-marathon will set off at 7:30 a.m., while participants in the 10K will begin at 8:30 a.m.  The 5K will follow with start times of 9:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 10 a.m.  The Kids’ 1-Mile Run will only be held virtually.

All participants over 2 years old will be asked to wear face coverings while in the staging areas, and can remove them once they have passed the start line and can physically distance themselves from other runners.  All volunteers, staff and sponsor representatives will be required to wear a face covering.

Each participant will receive a coupon for a pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream, a commemorative medal, and a t-shirt.  Proceeds from the event benefit Brenham High School athletics.

KWHI’s “Sports Doc” Ed Pothul will be at the Fun Run this morning, broadcasting live from the friendly country cruiser.

  1. I just wish they would have it at one location and not up and down the county roads. I live on a road the the route was on. You better not leave your house or try to get to our house. The runners take up the whole road road like they own it and won’t move over. Or just wait to they all go by put it might take awhile for the runner to go thru. Think about it for the land owners that have things to do.

    1. Landowner , I too live where the run takes place , I know its going to be on a certain date and time and I plan accordingly Its ONLY ONE DAY out of the year, This event raises money and helps the community and people enjoy themselves , Its does not even last all day. Just let people have fun and joy in their lives,

      1. If it raises money and helps the community then show me where the money goes or what it use for You never see that do you Well I enjoy my live to by checking my cattle to on Saturdays and enjoying my live. They even spray paint on the county roads that should be consider vandalism. Is someone going to come remove it I bet not.
