7TH ANNUAL LOCAL HISTORY DAY WEDNESDAY IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM

Seventh graders in Brenham ISD will have the opportunity tomorrow (Wednesday) to see history through the eyes of a settler in Washington County.

The 7th Annual Local History Day in downtown Brenham will have students participating in interactive stations to learn more about the history of the community.  Some of the activities include a scavenger hunt, the creation of a chalk mural in Alamo Alley, and the viewing of The Dawn of Washington County at the Barnhill Center.

The public is invited to attend the final activity of the day, the Brenham Bandits gunfight.  The historical shootout is scheduled from 2:10 to 2:45 p.m. on Baylor Street, at the corner of Commerce Street.  It tells the story of a famous Texas Ranger hailing from Washington County, and notorious outlaws who roamed the area.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Jennifer Eckermann at 979-337-7384, or Sharon Brass at 979-451-1459.
