BRENHAM AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD TO DISCUSS HANGAR CONSTRUCTION

The Brenham Airport Advisory Board will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon to discuss construction on a trio of hangars.

The board will hear a lease request for land between the Aviation Way entrance road and former terminal building, fuel farm, and apron-plane parking. Brent Nedbalek wishes to construct a 125’ x 100’ hangar, with additional office space and parking bringing the area to about 350’ x 150’.

The city has some concerns about the location if it is approved for construction. Staff say the location of the hangar and office would heavily restrict the city’s ability to expand the apron area, and cut off access for fueling trucks to refuel storage tanks.  In addition, the proposed hangar is designed for larger aircraft, so staff believe this would eliminate at least ten existing tie-down locations on the apron.

The board will also look over a request to lease land on 3405 Aviation Way, for building of a 60’ x 60’ hangar. This hangar would be next to the Schaer hangar at 3407 Aviation Way.  Rick Doak, of Riga Aviation, has signed a ground-space lease agreement, but still needs to get a metes and bounds survey of the area.  Staff have no issue with the proposed hangar location.

In addition, the board will discuss a request from Nedbalek for a 15’ expansion to the rear of an existing hangar on 2901 Aviation Way. The expansion will increase the lease area, and include improvements not listed in the current lease agreement.  Staff say the expansion should not impact drainage or utilities in the area.

The board will also receive updates on federal grants, as well as the runway bump project and the Airport Master Plan. TxDOT has drafted the Airport Capital Improvement Plan for the 2019 fiscal year, and has included both the preparation of a master plan and the runway project for funding.

The board will meet tomorrow afternoon at 5:30 p.m., at the Brenham Municipal Airport on 3001 Aviation Way.
