AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD HOLDS INFORMATIONAL MEETING

The Brenham Airport Advisory Board held a largely informational meeting Thursday as no action was taken on any item.  The only item on the agenda that was up for consideration, the Minimum Standards document for airport businesses, was tabled while the city staff completes the wording in it.

The board received updates on several projects at the airport.  Repairs to the humps at the north end of the runway are expected to begin the first of next year.  The contractor for the TexDOT project could be ready to go in November, but the board felt it was best to wait until after the holidays as the usable runway will be shortened during the course of the 60 day project.  The board was also in general agreement in the proposed locations for the new FBO and fuel tank.  Brent Nedbalek is planning on building a second FBO at the airport as part of his Aviators Plus business.

The board also received an update on the planned construction of a new entrance for the airport.  Board member Dr. Michele Bright, who is heading up the project, said that several donors are lined up and the signage would be replaced first, followed by a phase 2, which would include new landscaping.

The next meeting for the Airport Advisory board is scheduled for September 17th.
