ANIMALS OF ALL KINDS AT PET CARNIVAL

The scores of animal lovers, who brought their best four legged friends out to the Animal Carnival at the Dog Park on Highway 36 north Saturday afternoon, soon knew that not all pets are warm blooded and furry.

Some of the pets had hard shells, others had feathers and scales.  Many were more than friends. Some helped people with special needs and some others even help enforce the law.

Teresa Shisk-Sailing of the Reptile Hospice and Sanctuary of Texas, had python snakes, all many of lizards and even huge turtles on display.  She said reptiles are not necessarily dangerous, and actually kind of lovable.

Many came out to see her large Mock Turtles, and iguanas.  Shisk Saling said she too was ‘snake phobic’ at one time but needed to get over it in order to work at a veterinary hospital.

The pet carnival was held throughout Saturday, with demonstrations of the Brenham police department’s K-9 Unit, a display of Texas Longhorns, and an area to adopt pets.

All this was at the Washington County Animal Friends Dog Park,, next to the Animal Clinic on Highway 36 north.

Saturday was a great day to walk your dogs at the dog park.
