APPRAISAL OFFICE RELEASES 2018 CERTIFIED PROPERTY VALUES

The Washington County Appraisal District announced moderate growth of property values for this year.

Chief Appraiser Willy Dillworth has released the certified numbers for Washington County, citing a 3.1 percent increase compared to last year’s property values.  The assessed property value for the county in 2018 totaled $3,667,748,728.

Dilworth said growth in commercial properties and raw land accounted for a large portion of the increases in this year’s appraisals.

The city of Brenham saw a 3.8 percent increase in property values compared to last year, with Burton netting a 3.3 percent increase.

The Brenham School District saw a 3.2 percent increase inside its district, while the Burton School District will see a 2.2 percent increase in taxable property values within the district.

Blinn College net a 3 percent increase in its district, with the Oak Hill Water District seeing a 2.8 percent increase.

The certified numbers will be presented to various governmental entities, which will set tax rates in the coming months to fund their new budgets.

  1. We were told
that if your appraiser is NOT having a good day when they come to your place the value may be higher than normal…now that makes you feel real good. Apparently they just pull numbers out of the sky depending on their mood & if they like you.

  2. OK city of Brenham enough is enough. I looked up the average income per home in Washington county and city of Brenham and it is a Whopping $51,600. How can these taxes be afforded and then have money for kids, school, vacations, auto insurance ect….. Enough!!!! If your trying to drive the poor out and the rich in you are doing a great job!!!!

  3. My wallet is feeling the squeeze already. Our local government organizations are growing like an unwanted cancer, adding, people, departments, and responsibilities that we don’t really need. Central office at the school district keeps adding more and more non-classroom jobs, the city just did a power grab for the tourism center, and the county just made a huge scene at the HOT board. When do we as citizens say ENOUGH!

  4. I have a question and then a comment….are these appraisals actually done “eyes on” because i recall no person ever looking and i hope that employers consider cost of living salary raises on a regular basis because every bill there is constantly goes up, but salaries are not….gonna be hard for a working family to afford anything soon….
