ASTROS FALL/RANGERS ROLL IN ‘VIRTUAL’ SEASON OPENERS

In order to attempt to fill the void left by the temporary absence of Major League Baseball, the long-time baseball board/computer game, Strat-o-Matic is playing the 2020 season, virtually.

Strat-o-Matic is using their computer technology to recreate all of the scheduled 2020 games.

As a light-hearted way to fill the absence of live-action baseball, KWHI will post the daily results of the computer-generated games involving the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers.

While it, in no way, can replace actual baseball, we hope it will act as a tongue-in-cheek substitute until real baseball returns.

On opening day, the Astros fell behind early to the Angels and never caught up, dropping a 9-6 decision.

The Rangers were buoyed by Cory Kluber, who fired seven shutout innings in a 10-0 win.

Here are the boxscores…enjoy!

TEAM RISP- : 2 for 9  : 1 for 7

Mike Trout slammed 2 homeruns and scored 4 times at Minute Maid Park as the

Los Angeles(AL) team beat the Houston ballclub by the count of 9 to 6.

Trout enjoyed a big evening at the plate.  He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'

in the 1st inning, laced a single in the 3rd inning and blasted a solo shot

in the 4th inning.  Offensively, Los Angeles(AL) was a juggernaut.  They

scored in 6 separate innings.

The win went to Andrew Heaney(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 5 innings. Hansel

Robles earned the save, his 1st.  The losing pitcher was Zack Greinke(0-1).

He allowed Los Angeles(AL) 6 runs in 4 innings of work.

Corey Kluber mowed down 10 Seattle batters and left fielder Nick Solak

connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the Texas ballclub destroyed the

Seattle club by a score of 10 to 0 at T-Mobile Park.

Kluber(1-0) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the

Seattle batters.  He gave up just 2 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.  Texas

finished with 15 hits while Seattle ended up with 3.

Marco Gonzales(0-1) ended up with the loss.  He gave up 5 runs in 4 innings of

work.  Seattle's manager was impressed with Kluber and his 10 strikeouts.

'It's tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'
