The post will become vacant with the resignation of State Rep. Lois Kolkhorst, who won the December 6th special election for a seat in the Texas Senate with more than 77% of the vote inside House District 13. Now, a special election must be called to fill her house seat.

In January, Judge Bilski will conclude her fifth term as Austin County Judge. She began leading the county in 1995 and has prepared 20 budgets, always returning funds for surplus, while the county’s population grew by 35 percent.

“As a conservative, I believe that a bedrock principle of American freedom is the responsibility of local communities to bring solutions to local challenges rather than a top-down approach from the state or federal government. That is why I have worked for two decades to grow our economy, pave our roads, improve our schools, strengthen our emergency services, and secure our future water supply,” said Judge Bilski.

“For 20 years, I have listened to the constituents I represent, communicating with state and federal elected and appointed officials as well as agencies in Washington D.C. and Austin to fight for solutions to the challenges that face our part of Texas. Now, I am ready to go to Austin to be the advocate that our families deserve,” Judge Bilski explained.

Judge Bilski is recognized as a statewide leader for local control. She was selected by her peers to lead the Houston-Galveston Area Council and Texas Association of Regional Councils, where she forged problem-solving partnerships between local governments. She also is an active member of the Regional Council of the Lower Basin of the Lower Colorado River Authority, working to secure the future water supply for this district's families, ranchers and farmers.

Judge Bilski was honored to receive the Texas Road Hand Award from the Texas Department of Transportation, which is the agency’s highest award for leadership on meeting local transportation needs.

“Politics today is full of rhetoric and sound bites, but only a handful of lawmakers have the stomach to solve problems and get things done. I am a doer, a problem solver, not just a talker, and I’m ready to go to Austin, roll up my sleeves, and put our conservative Texas values into action by securing the border, protecting the future of healthcare for Texans, preparing a balanced budget, and growing our economy for the future,” said Judge Bilski.

Judge Bilski and her husband, Joe, have been married for 40 years. The couple resides in Sealy, and they have three children and seven grandchildren. Judge Bilski is a member of Farm Bureau, NRA,  KJT and KJZT, Texas Sportsman's Association as well as many other civic and charitable organizations. She is also on the Blinn College Advisory Board for the Sealy Campus and is a graduate of Blinn College. Joe and Carolyn are active members at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy where Carolyn is involved in the Jr. High Ministry and serves as a Eucharistic Minister.
