AUSTIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT REPORTS MORE RUNAWAYS FROM FIVE OAKS

The Austin County Sheriff’s office responded to a report of two more juveniles that ran away from the Five Oaks Achievement Center in New Ulm on Sunday.

The incident was reported around 7:55pm and the runaways were believed to be headed to the Industry area, and were then reported to be in front of Lindemann’s Store. When approached by the Austin County Sheriff’s Deputies, they ran, but were quickly apprehended.

It was also discovered that the juveniles entered a garage, stole some items, consumed alcohol, and also took an item out of a parked car.

On Monday, the same two juveniles and one other juvenile ran away from the same facility again. All three were found in New Ulm and taken back to Five Oaks.

The facility has had a problem with juveniles running away. The facility’s representatives testified before the Austin county Commissioner’s Court in hopes of a resolution to the problem.

There have been two complaints filed with the State of Texas concerning these incidents, and the Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes office says they will go file another one in this matter. This is the 18th time the Sheriff’s office has responded to the report of runaways from the facility.

  1. Maybe the state should look into why these kids are running away in the first place… Just a thought

    1. To go break into hard working citzen’s houses and take things that don’t belong to them, thats why they ran away ..just my thought …oh yes another thought is that they will likely continue this behavior until they end up in jail where they will really want to run away from…..
