BACK TO SCHOOL FOR BRENHAM STUDENTS TODAY

Thousands of Brenham students and staff members are returning to school today (Thursday) for the first day of classes.

This year, new academic programs are being implemented in the district, such as the STEAM academy at elementary school campuses.  There have also been renovations to the Krause Elementary School building.

Alton Elementary Principal Michael Ogg says things are going extremely well for the first day.

Brenham Superintendent Dr. Walter Jackson says the district is thrilled to welcome back its students and staff this morning, saying the district’s “collective greatness” will help everyone achieve their goals.

Jackson says he wants to recognize the 800 district staff members that work every day to “provide a safe, caring, and rich academic environment for almost 5,000 children in this community.”

Brenham High School Principal Joseph Chandler says going back to school allows old and new friendships to flourish.  He also says Brenham High is still adjusting to the new security measures offered.

Jackson says, with the community’s support, Brenham ISD will continue to deliver the educational excellence that it has provided since 1875.
