Blake Barnes was selected to head operations for the Brenham hospital after a search and screening of more than 50 applications.  His first day in Brenham will be July 6th.

According to a release, Barnes’ role will involve supporting a team of physicians and healthcare professionals while leading and overseeing day-to-day operations of the hospital and its system of priorities.

Barnes has served as director of clinic operations for the past three years in the College Station Region, where he was responsible for several clinic departments.  Prior to coming to College Station, he served as an assistant administrator in the Hill Country Region within Baylor Scott and White, where he gained experiences in hospital operations, specifically in a rural healthcare setting.  He has a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Austin College.

Baylor Scott and White – College Station Region President Jason Jennings said Barnes brings with him experience with rural healthcare and a “track record of success and achievements”, which are “a testament to his drive and dedication”.  He called Barnes “a humble leader committed to excellence”.

Barnes said the Brenham hospital features “a talented team of caring professionals serving a dynamic community”, adding that the ability to become part of the hospital’s leadership team is “humbling and exciting”.

  1. I know and work with Blake and am confident that he will do a wonderful job leading the Brenham hospital!!

  2. I have used facilities here at Scott and White since they took over. I am disappointed with there staff and inability to diagnose ER patients. In my opinion there is absolutely no improvement since Baylor Scott & White took over.

  3. A 20 something year old is the best out of 50 applicants? He obviously doesn’t have the most experience simply by age, appears getting someone younger will cater to what the Board wants done instead of what’s “right” for our community and the patients. This is what was chosen for this position. Why can’t we get someone here that caters to the patients and that will bring our community hospital to the level where we feel safe using it instead of going out of town for treatments!!!!

    1. That seems somewhat harsh. The article does not mention Mr. Barnes age, and we have no idea what his professional accomplishments have been. It is possible he will bring a youthful energy to our medical community that will help has have even better care than we do today. There are plenty of wise gray headed people in our medical community who can provide guidance and advice to a young administrator. How about giving him a chance before we pass judgment.

    2. I’ve worked with Blake for the past couple of years and he is great at everything he does. He brings a lot to the table. Seems like you’re passing judgement on someone based on age rather than their accomplishments.

    1. My heavens WHY does Dr.Loesch not have privileges? What is happening in this community with the City, County leaders & now S&:W just not giving a rats about the Citizens & Patients that fund this town. Someone needs to answer this WHY & if its true. We’re heading down another path of destruction just like the City coffers & DEBT & before long we will not have funds to support a Hospital. Those that do not know this for many years this town & surrounding supported TWO hospitals …St.Jude & Milroy /Bohne Memorial …then St.Jude became Trinity then S& W. Bohne ceased operations. Its as bad now with our Grocery stores….yes when City/County were smaller we had 5 supermarkets…. Safeway, Stanley’s, Food Pantry, Brookshire Bros, HEB…well look what happened there GREED overcame & HEB bought property & leases with indefinite never ending year terms & a HEB MONOPOLY was born ! Prices soaring & Customer Service non existent because they HEB can get away w/it. Travel to Brookshire Bros. Bellville & that’s what I call SERVICE. I’m sure S&W was going for a hire that didnt demand higher salary vs. another with many years & asking greater salary. I hope he succeeds but I believe it’s all about MONEY & he will likely use this employment as a steppingstone to better pay. Explanation needs to come regarding Dr.Loeschs’ privileges. He’s outstanding doctor & County Medical Director who’s done a superior job serving his patients & w/the Covis epidemic.. Again another avenue (epidemic) the City & County failed at & Dr.Loesch bailed them out !!
