Two participants of Faith Mission’s Sensational Summer SMART Kids program recently met with a local doctor as they make their vision of joining the medical profession clearer.

As part of the Pro Kids component of SMART Kids, Rulesa Forrest and Jada Franklin visited with Baylor Scott and White OB/GYN Dr. Vanessa Sarfoh to discuss what it takes to become a doctor.

Franklin said she wants to be a gynecologist because she wants to help women and children feel comfortable in a medical setting, while Forrest wants to help and give back to the community.

During their visit at the Baylor Scott and White clinic, Dr. Sarfoh discussed the significance of science and math in education, why professionalism and confidentiality is important, and the need to take college seriously.

Dalia Vela, the director of the SMART program, coordinated with Melissa McCune, director of clinical operations at Baylor Scott and White in Brenham, to help make this visit happen.

The summer program concludes next week with the Police Chief of the Day and NFL Player of the Day.
