BEES & TREES PROGRAM, FRIDAY IN COLUMBUS

A program on Bees and Trees for Homeowners is set for Friday at the Colorado Co. Fairgrounds in Columbus.

The program is part of the Multi-County New Landowner Education program: a series of informational meetings, seminars, and field days in Washington, Austin, Colorado, and Fayette Counties.

There will be presentations from several area beekeepers on what it takes to raise honey bees in this area of Texas, some of the challenges they face, and what they’ve found to be good solutions.

Certified Texas Master Beekeeper Justin Perry will also address the gathering.

There will be time for hands-on learning with beekeepers and the equipment, supplies, and tools that they bring.

There will also be a presentation on tree biology, how to recognize common tree problems, and how to manage for tree health.

Experts will cover planting, pruning, watering, fertilizer, insect and disease control.  Certified arborist Mike Hackfield of Columbus will be there to share his knowledge from decades in the tree business.
