BIG-10 & PAC-12 CANCEL FALL SPORTS–BIG 12 & SEC MOVING FORWARD

Presidents from the Big Ten and the Pac-12 voted Tuesday to postpone all fall sports seasons, including football, amid the coronavirus pandemic with the hopes of playing in the spring.

Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren says the decision was based on the uncertainty that still surrounds the coronavirus pandemic.

Multiple sources say The Big 12 will continue moving forward with the intent to play football this fall.

The conference's board of directors met for more than an hour on Tuesday to discuss the future of the season.  A revised Big 12 schedule is expected to be released soon.  Teams will play a "9-plus-1" schedule, with nine conference games and one non-conference game, but the start of the conference season will be delayed until Sept. 26.

The ACC and SEC publicly affirmed their intention to continue moving forward.

The American Athletic Conference, which included SMU and Houston, is planning to move forward as well.  The first games across the league are scheduled for Sept. 5.

Conference USA, which had Rice postpone its football season until Sept. 26, has a meeting of the league's presidents and chancellors scheduled for late Wednesday.
