BLINN BOARD TO DISCUSS CONTRACTS FOR NEW CAMPUS

  

Contracts for work on the new Bryan campus of Blinn College are on the agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Blinn Board of Trustees.

The board is expected to authorize Blinn District President Mary Hensley to negotiate and award contracts for work on the new campus at FM-1688 and FM-2818 in Bryan.

The contracts would include:  Design and construction phase services with HDR Engineering Inc.; Geotechnical and pavement design services with Terracon Consultant Service; and, surveying services with Strong Surveying, LLC.

The new 95-acre campus will ultimately will serve as many as 15,000 students.  Phase 1 of the project will serve approximately 2,500 students, and includes an academic building, a student resource building and approximately 800 parking spaces.

The four-story academic building will include 18 classrooms and eight laboratories, while the student resource center will include a library, study and leisure space, campus police and other student services.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the board will hear a report from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges standards regarding shared governance.

The Blinn board will meet tonight at 6:30 on the third floor of the Administration Building at 802 Green St., in Brenham.
