BLINN BOARD TO MEET TONIGHT AND TOMORROW

Tonight is the first of two meetings on consecutive nights for the Blinn College board of trustees.

Tonight will be the board’s regular monthly meeting which will be at the Administration Building on the Brenham campus.

Blinn College’s Public Information Officer Rich Bray says the Board  is expected to further discuss the faculty senate’s vote of no confidence in College President Harold Nolte last Wednesday.

The vote came after months of critical comments from faculty members—nearly all from the Bryan campus—regarding Nolte’s sweeping re-organization plans.  Those plans include changes in class schedules, laboratory periods, and most of all the replacement of department chairs in favor of six deans for various academic disciplines.

Tonight’s meeting is at 6:30pm at the Administration Building.

Tomorrow night the board will meet in executive  session to discuss concerns about the expansion of the Brazos County campus to the Lynntech Science Park in College Station.

Residents in that area have been circulating a petition asking that the expansion take place somewhere else.  The residents have said they feared a drop in property values because residences would likely be turned into rental units for students, and there will be noise and traffic complaints.

Tomorrow’ s (Tuesday) session  will also be at 6:30pm at the Administration building on the Brenham campus.

  1. Bryan property owners don’t pay one penny towards supporting Blinn, but Brenham taxpayers do. I say don’t spend one red cent to expand Blinn in Bryan until Blinn in Bryan pays back all of the money invested there AND Blinn in Brenham is doubled it’s size. If you agree, call a Board member and tell them KEEP BRENHAM MONEY IN BRENHAM!
