BLINN COLLEGE TO MAKE BIG EXPANSION IN BRAZOS COUNTY

The Brazos County  campus of Blinn College has seen such a big boost in enrollment the college’s Board of Trustees say they need more room.

At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Board, they decided to purchase 53.8 acres, including a 180,000 square foot research facility to accommodate the College’s bigger enrollment.

The purchase contract with Lynntech, Incorporated is contingent upon the successful completion of the colleges’ ‘due diligence’ process.  The new campus, at 2501 Earl Rudder Freeway South in College Station, would be the complement of the college’s 80 acre Bryan campus on Villa Maria Road.

Blinn could begin utilizing 71,000 square feet of the facility, including two lab spaces, as soon as Fall of 2015, while Lynntech can remain in the space it currently occupies for the next 36 months.  The College has not yet determined which academic programs the facility would house.

The purchase price will be finalized upon completion of the appraisal process.
