BLINN MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO TYLER

Although the No. 18 Blinn College men’s soccer team (7-3, 6-2) outshot No. 4 Tyler Junior College, 7-6, on Friday night at Rankin Field, the Apaches completed a late rally to defeat the Buccaneers 3-2.

“I thoroughly enjoyed tonight’s game and felt like it was a game fit to be played at the national tournament,” said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. “I couldn’t be happier other than with the result.”

Marco Rodriguez Jr. and Stefan Fevrier Sildor led Blinn’s offense by scoring one goal apiece, while Josh Stone recorded an assist. On defense, JT McCoy had a solid performance, recording three saves for the Buccaneers.

Tyler didn’t break through Blinn’s defense until the 43rd minute to lead 1-0 at the half. The Apaches scored their second goal in the 57th minute to take a 2-0 lead, however the Buccaneers came back to even the score 2-2.

Stone assisted Rodriguez Jr. in scoring Blinn’s first goal in the 61st minute, while Fevrier Sildor scored in the 75th minute to tie the game.

Tyler worked quickly to take back a 3-2 lead in the 77th minute and the Apaches were able to hold onto it for the remainder of the game.

Next, the No. 18 Blinn College men’s soccer team will take the field against Jacksonville on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. at Rankin Field. The women’s team will open the doubleheader against Jacksonville at noon.
