BLINN OPENS REGISTRATION FOR MINIMESTER, SUMMER & FALL
Blinn’s academic transfer rate and affordability make it a destination for students across the state
Blinn College has opened registration for the upcoming May Minimester and the Summer and Fall semesters.
The May Minimester runs May 14-May 30, and registration is available through May 13. The Summer I semester runs June 4-July 2, and the Summer II semester will be July 5-Aug. 2. The Fall semester runs Aug. 27-Dec. 13. Registration for each semester is available through the day prior to the first day of class.
Blinn offers courses on its Brenham, Bryan, Schulenburg, and Sealy campuses, as well as online and at The Texas A&M University System’s RELLIS Campus.
Blinn’s online programs allow students greater flexibility in scheduling their courses, and academic and student support are available through the College’s online student portal, myBlinn. Blinn also offers a variety of resources for students considering online courses at www.blinn.edu/online/students, including an orientation course, tips for taking an online course, tutorials, and frequently asked questions.
Beginning in the Fall semester, students also can register for Blinn College courses at the RELLIS Campus, where they can complete four-year degrees from the Texas A&M System regional universities onsite. Each program at the RELLIS Academic Alliance creates a seamless pathway for students to earn a bachelor’s degree in related fields from an A&M System University, including Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Prairie View A&M University, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M University-International, West Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Texas A&M University-Central Texas. Blinn’s academic transfer rate regularly ranks among the highest in the state and the nation. According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Blinn’s academic transfer rate of 34.2 percent ranks second in the state and far exceeds the statewide average of 21.1 percent.
Blinn’s reputation for educational excellence is matched only by its affordability. According to the THECB’s CollegeForAllTexans.com, Blinn students who enrolled in 30 credit hours during the 2017-18 academic year saved $3,717, or 42 percent, compared to state residents at the average Texas public university.
In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers 201 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Though some scholarships are restricted to students who fit specific criteria, if a student who exemplifies those requirements does not apply, the scholarship may be offered to a wider range of students. Students are considered based on high academic achievement, participation in student activities, and community involvement.
