BLINN REQUESTING PERMIT FOR AG COMPLEX DEVELOPMENT

Brenham’s Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a request Monday from Blinn College to build upon its Brenham agriculture program.

The commission will hold public hearing and possibly act on a specific use permit request, for the development of an agricultural complex.  The complex would include a 6,000 square-foot building which would house a livestock demonstration room, tack room, preparation room, farrowing house, livestock pens, and a covered pavilion.

The College is intending to use part of the roughly 44 acres it owns south of Old Mill Creek Road, near the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex.  The area is currently listed as a mixed business and residential zoning district, which would permit Blinn’s expansion if its request is granted.  City staff are recommending approval of the permit.

The commission will also receive an update on sign ordinance revisions at its meeting, scheduled for Monday afternoon at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall.
