BLINN SELECTS ACCT TO AID IN SELECTION OF NEW BLINN PRESIDENT

Blinn College has selected the Association of Community College Trustees to assist Blinn in its search for the 15th president in the College’s 131-year history.

As the selected executive search firm, The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) will assist the Blinn Board of Trustees in developing a timetable for the selection of the president, assist with recruitment and outreach strategies, provide orientation/training and an overview of the search process for the Board of Trustees and members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PSAC), and will assist the board and PSAC with candidate evaluation, among other duties.

Blinn’s Board of Trustees will work with the ACCT to identify an interim president to be in place by the end of January.

ACCT Board Leadership Services has provided executive search assistance to more than 300 community colleges. For more than 30 years, ACCT has assisted community college governing boards in fulfilling the responsibility of selection and regular evaluation of presidents and chancellors by working closely with the governing board to assess institutional needs and to develop and facilitate a process for identifying and employing a president or chancellor who meets the needs of the institution.

On its web site, www.acctsearches.org, ACCT lists the following strengths in its role as an executive search firm:

  • We understand the needs of the community colleges.
  • We offer the benefit of in-depth executive search skills.
  • We have the advantage of the ACCT membership as a source of contacts.
  • Confidentiality is paramount to us.
  • We find and cultivate high caliber talent.
  • We build a unique pool of candidates for each search to "fit" the college.
  • We have extensive contacts with women and minorities poised to advance.

ACCT is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern more than 1,200 community, technical and community colleges in the United States and beyond.

Blinn has not set a timeline for establishing a new hire. In September, District President Dr. Harold Nolte announced his retirement effective Jan. 31.
