BLINN STUDENT SUING COLLEGE OVER “CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS”

A Blinn College student has reportedly filed a First Amendment lawsuit against Blinn College—claiming the restriction of her “free speech”.

According to the group Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, Nicole Sanders filed the suit in federal court this week, claiming she was told by an administrator that she would need “special permission” to display a gun rights sign and collect signatures for her student group on campus.

The group, known as FIRE, assisted Sanders in filing the federal lawsuit.

The group says the lawsuit challenges Blinn’s policy of—what they call—“restricting speech to a tiny ‘Free Speech Area,’ as well as the process that led the college to take over a month to approve a card Sanders wanted to hand out to students explaining their Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights.”

Blinn officials say they are aware of the suit, and are reserving comment until they’ve had a chance to read the suit.

  1. While I’m convinced this story is true, I am appalled. I searched Google, and not one mention by an “alphabet” news agency covering this story.

That leads me to believe that it is no longer news-worthy in the United States of America when an accredited college that probably receives federal funds violates a students constitutional rights.
