BLINN SWEPT BY ALVIN AT HOME, 11-3 AND 11-2

Preston Hoffart leads Blinn with two RBIs

BRENHAM, Texas — Blinn College baseball was swept by Alvin Community College, 11-3 and 11-2, on Friday at Leroy Dreyer Field.
With the pair of losses, Blinn falls to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in Region XIV play.

Alvin 11 – Blinn 3
Alvin run-ruled Blinn, 11-3, in eight frames, to open the doubleheader.
Preston Hoffart led Blinn's offense with two RBIs and one run, while Blake Faecher and Jake Miller each scored one run.
The Buccaneers were the first on the board in the second inning with a 2-0 lead. Faecher led off the inning with a single and Miller followed with a double. With two outs and two runners in scoring position, Hoffart was clutch at the plate with a single for Faecher and Miller to score.
Alvin answered back in the bottom of the second inning with four runs to take a 4-2 lead for good.
Hoffart scored Blinn's final run in the fifth inning to gain on Alvin 4-3. He doubled to lead off the inning, advanced to second on Reggie McCalister's walk, advanced to third on Cameron Gibbons' single and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Alec Sanchez.

Alvin scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to expand its lead to 7-3. The Dolphins added two runs in the seventh inning and two runs in the eighth inning to run-rule Blinn.

Alvin 11 – Blinn 2
Alvin continued to have success on offense to defeat Blinn 11-2 in the final game of the doubleheader.
Brice Armistead was the only pitcher not to surrender a run for Blinn, throwing one hitless inning, while striking out three.
On offense, Gibbons and Miller recorded one RBI apiece, while McCalister and Miller each scored one run.
Alvin chipped away at Blinn, scoring one run in each of the first four innings.
Miller was the first to score for Blinn with a solo home run in the fifth inning to put Blinn behind Alvin 4-1.

Reggie McCalister

Alvin made a dent on the scoreboard with four runs in the sixth inning to lead 8-1.
The Buccaneers scored their final run in the bottom of the sixth inning when McCalister landed on base on an error and Gibbons brought him home on a single later in the inning.
Alvin added three runs in the seventh inning for the final.

Next, Blinn will travel to face Alvin in a nine-inning game on Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m.
