BLINN TRUSTEES TO CONSIDER ADOPTING 2019-20 BUDGET

The Blinn Board of Trustees will consider adoption of the 2019-20 budget and stipends at its meeting Tuesday.

The proposed budget stands at $119.8 million.  This is a 3.9 percent increase over last year’s approved budget of $115.3 million, a $4.5 million difference.

The board will also consider a contract with American Mechanical Services of Houston, LLC for replacement and installation of a boiler in the Brenham Campus Administration Building.  The recommended contract is for $120,316, with the project being paid from 2016 bond funds.

Also in session, the board will look at a contract for cast stone replacement and exterior wall rehabilitation for six buildings on the Bryan campus.  The board will have to modify the budget to do so, as Blinn administrators say proposals received are “significantly higher” than the estimated budget of $3 million.

Administrators are recommending the College award a contract to United Restoration and Preservation, Inc. for a revised amount of $3.2 million.  Upon approval, construction will begin in July and is expected to be completed next April.  Funds for the project are available from 2016 bond funds.

The board will meet Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m., in the Brenham Campus Administration Building.
