BLINN TRUSTEES TO HOLD TAX RATE HEARING TONIGHT

Blinn College Trustees are set to meet today, as they hold a public hearing on the proposed tax rate.

The hearing was post-poned due to last week’s storm.

The board meets tonight at 6:00 in the Administration Building on Green St.

It is the first of two public hearing on the proposed tax rate of 6.01 cents per hundred dollars valuation.

The proposed rate will generate nearly $1.9-million in revenue to support the Brenham Campus of Blinn.

The revenue from the tax rate makes up about one-third of the Brenham Campus’ operating costs.  The remaining costs are covered by student tuitions and fees.

The board is expected to formally adopt the rate at their meeting in two weeks.
