The Kenneth Mutscher Agriculture Endowed Scholarship, established by BEC, will be awarded annually to a student studying agriculture. Blinn agricultural science students from BEC’s 14-county service area – Austin, Bastrop, Burleson, Caldwell, Colorado, Fayette, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Lee, Milam, Travis, Washington and Williamson counties – will be eligible for the scholarship.

Mutscher, who died last May, served on the BEC board for 21 years as a representative of Washington County.  He was serving as vice chairman at the time of his death.

Mutscher was an avid rancher and longtime supporter of the Blinn Foundation.

Bluebonnet GM Matt Bentke said the cooperative was eager to honor Mutscher with an endowed scholarship.  He said this was a great opportunity as the scholarship is agriculture-based, which is “close to the heart of what our organization is all about”.

Techline, Inc. also donated $5,000 to help fund the endowed scholarship, and some private donations were also received.
