BLUEBONNET GIVING $3 MILLION BACK TO MEMBERS

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative members are going to receive a pleasant surprise when they open up their May electric bill.

The Cooperative is giving $3 million to its members or former members.

Wil Holford of Bluebonnet says people receiving their electricity from Bluebonnet are not customers, they are owners and any additional money the Cooperative has after paying all the expenses goes back to the members and former members.

The money will be returned in the form of credits on the electric bills, which are similar to dividends for profit making companies.

The amount each member gets depends on how much electricity they used in the previous year and how long they have been a Bluebonnet member.

Holford says receiving capital credits is one of the things that makes being a member and owner of a co-op special.

Much of Washington County receives its electricity from Bluebonnet.
